Improper training and municipal and supervisor liability can be applied to many different situations. Although initial thoughts regarding a violation of civil rights that is connected to improper training may first bring instances to mind that focus on law enforcement, improper training may also be applied to any state or local agency with which you come into contact. When improper training is an issue, it has affected you, and it leads to your rights being violated then you have recourse.
One basic example involves law enforcement and the following of proper procedure during an arrest. If an officer does not follow proper procedure in the arrest, or if they use excessive force, or do not know proper protocol, then improper training may be an issue and municipal and supervisor liability may be a factor.
Additionally, those employed by municipalities, affecting their ability to perform their duties properly, can claim improper training. In this instance, the employee may have found himself or herself in a situation where improper training put advancement or even their job at risk.
